Outlook Addin does not work

I created the Outlook add-in for outlook 2007 using VSTO 2008 while debugging code outlook threw an exception on start as below:

"Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word,
Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one
of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

After doing little research I found usually if we have not installed the
Office 2007 PIA on the development machine outlook an exception at the start.

But that is a necessary component to program against .NET Office
project.

Please try the following steps to resolve the issue,

1.Open the Control Panel and double click the Programs and Features

2.Find the Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, right click it and choose the
Change option

3.Select the radio button Add or Remove Features and click Continue

4.Select the .NET Programmability Support under Microsoft Office Outlook.
click Continue to go on.

After we install the PIA correctly, we should find the
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook in C:\Windows\Assembly virtual directory.
And this fixed my issue .

The server principal “user” is not able to access the database “db” under the current security context.

I was running into an issue that I really needed to resolve quickly.
I was getting the below error:

The server principal "sqluser" is not able to access the database "db" under the current security context. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 916)

After googling a lot I found a blog : https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=354291.

Resolution:
This suggestion solved my problem:
Please try using the following workaround and let us know if that helps:

1) Bring Object Explorer Details window by selecting View --> Object Explorer Details in menu (or hitting F7)
2) In Object Explorer window click at Databases folder
3) In Object Explorer Details window right-click at the column header and deselect Collation
4) Refresh Databases folder.

SharePoint 2007 HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable

How did I solved the "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable" followed by error "cannot connect to the configuration database"------------

I was working on a project and all of the sudden my SharePoint site and Central Admin started giving me the error ‘HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable’ and I was not able to access either of them. I was not even able to connect to my Database SQL Server 2008. Thanks God! I realized soon I had changed my domain password a day before which stopped the application pool and also was not able to start MSSQLSERVER service.

I googled a lot and found the below solution:

1. Open up IIS Manager and click on Application Pools.
2. Locate your App Pool account and right-click on it and select ‘Advanced Settings’.
3. Click on the right of the Identity box to change it (A window will pop up).
4. Click on Set and simply retype your App Pool Identity in there with the new password.

Kind of weird but worked for me after giving me a day headache, I could get rid of ‘HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable’ after restarting the IIS Server but got another shock ""cannot connect to the configuration database."

I took lesser time to identify the problem this time. I tried to login to the DataBase Server manually and was unsuccessful, this is common problem on changing the domain password which did not bother me much. The follwoing steps resolved it.

1. Goto Control Panel> Admin Tool> Services.
2. Right click on MSSQLSERVER service and choose properties.
3. Click on LogOn tab.
4. Change the Domain password.
5. Now start the service, come back to test whether can connect to SQL Server, Hurray! now connected successfully.

Final Touch, restarted all the services, could log back to my SharePoint site and Central Admin.

Recaptcha Validation Exception: Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'WebForm_PostBackOptions' is undefined

I'm using recaptcha control for avoid spamming while signing-up.
I get the following error:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'WebForm_PostBackOptions' is undefined

If I remove the recaptcha, the form works. I've read some posts that the WebResources.axd which handles the 2.0 javascript isn't being downloaded properly etc. I checked my solution file for other forms, I see "WebResources.axd" is loaded properly & while the page which contains recaptcha does not load "WebResources.axd" file. I googled a lot, applied all the steps given in the blogs related to this error, but nothing fixed it. This situation was show stopper for me and I needed this is be fixed. Whenever I removed recaptcha it started working. I knew the problem but did not find solution.

Unknowingly I added "ValidationGroup="abc" for the control on which click I was getting the above exceptions.

I didnt realize that my problem was solved. Suddenly I found, my exceptions has stopped, I compared my old code with the current one & found the solution is adding ValidationGroup="abc". I added for all the control on which click the error was coming.

If you get the similar error, just try this work around. I still wonder how it solved the problem. Any explaination is welcome.

Animated Image using Javascript

It's simple. I wanted an image for flashing the updates & news on my Website. I thought of using Marquee element, but was not able use image marquee, then thought of using animated image but don't know how to create it. Then thought of writing a javascript which will hide & show the image continuously based upon time out, what a trick!!!

I'm posting this for reference because I couldn't find any examples of how to animate an image and it either hidden or visible.

LEADERSHIP - WHAT MAKES A GOOD LEADER?

Have you ever tried to define leadership in your own words?

My favorite leaders have always been an inspiration to me because of the manner in which they took responsibility for every area of their lives. These individuals never made excuses and were always accountable for everything they did.

While a lot of people use the two words - responsibility and accountability, interchangeably, they actually mean very, very different things.

Many a times, especially when a firm is getting restructured, one can land up with a promotion which puts one in a different role with different expectations and a totally new culture. I know people who have landed in positions of great responsibility by some management shuffling as a result of a merger or acquisition of a company. A friend of mine told me about his experience of getting a totally unexpected promotion which got him to the top management cadre. Chuckling, he said, he was the youngest attendee at the first conference after this reshuffle.

It may seem funny, but it can also be a bit daunting and intimidating. In such a situation, you would obviously try and cope as well as you can by using all the bag of tricks that you have picked up on your way here. But, without doubt, you will be out of your comfort zone. You may have some but not all the skills required to handle the challenges of your new role. Many people try hard but then give up and ask their bosses to place them back in roles which are more comfortable.

Leadership often forces you out of your comfort zone into new terrain. Growth is often only possible when we give up previous conceptions of what is possible.

Here is the key! As senior management, you are required to make the shift from managing 'stuff' to managing 'people' that are perfectly capable of managing the 'stuff'. At that level if you make the mistake of doing rather than managing, you run a double risk. Firstly, you will be doing a role which is not as big as what the organization is paying you for. Also, you run the risk of alienating and upsetting the people whose role you are taking on.

I have made this error. Once I realized my mistake, I started investing time and energy into developing the talents and abilities of my team rather than taking on their tasks. Of course, such a process may initially be slow to give results; however, in the long run it will prove immensely profitable.

So, start managing people and see how things will start to turn around. That brings us to the critical difference between 'responsibility' and 'accountability'.

In a smaller business, you are responsible for many roles and wear many hats. Responsibility refers to tasks and how one can work to accomplish and cope with all the things that need to be done, usually by juggling many hats. In a bigger business, one person can simply not do everything by himself.

At another level, top management in a company implies that you hold the accountability for the entire business performance. At this stage, you must distribute the responsibilities to other people, of course with your constant guidance and monitoring.

So, as a leader, give away the 'doing' to your team. Just tell them 'what' is required and leave the 'how' to them, within the given parameters.

It will be a tough transition to make, but believe me, it can be done! It will be one of the most powerful leadership lessons you will ever learn.

You are a Leader when others follow you because they want to, not because they have to.

I. Leaders are trusted

Leaders are effective not because they carry out the best practices competently, or have the best processes, or make a lot of phone calls. Customers will do business with people they like. They like people they can trust, and they trust people who show concern and competence. Employees will work well if they feel heard, if they clearly know what is required of them and if they feel that you understand that they are people too, and make decisions on a daily basis outside of work which affect them and their family.

II. Leaders listen

Listening skills are not hereditary, they are acquired. Most skills are acquired in early childhood and if children do not feel that adults are listening then it is very likely they will not listen as adults. Most people (75% according to some studies) do not listen well. People are motivated by leaders listening to them. People are more likely to follow an example than advice, so create better listeners by being a better listener. Everybody knows something that you don't, and if you listen you will find out ideas that people have for bettering the organization.

III. Leaders do not judge

If you criticize someone's idea they will almost certainly never use yours. Two heads are better than one and effective teamwork should always be considered an option. This means not only teaching others to work together and use each others ideas, but for you to become part of the process.

IV. Leaders delegate

Employees' potential is often wasted. A good leader does not manage every single detail. A good leader recognizes that everyone has skills outside the immediate environment, and trusts employees to use those skills wisely.

V. Leaders motivate

Employees tend to stagnate when motivation decreases. Motivation is not the old fashioned "Do as I say or something bad will happen" - this is fear. That may have short term results but it is not effective longer term. Instead, challenge your employees, it initiates excitement and creativity. Set targets that may be slightly out of their range of achievement, and see what results. Then guide them towards the solution but don't give it. Coach them into discovering it themselves and their self esteem will rise, together with better results for you.

VI Leaders understand people

People in general do not change much. Look at your employees as they are now. Manage for their current abilities, not for the abilities of one outstanding individual. That individual will find his own way up. By constant observation look at what is required to do the job and become adept at interviewing and hiring.

VII Leaders learn

Leaders look at themselves and their actions to see if they could have done better, and remember to do it better next time. Leaders educate themselves by searching for information, reading about leadership, talking to other leaders, trading ideas and experiences, and remembering that change is constant. They keep up with all the trends in management, technical, industry and people issues. When their business has grown to employing 5-15 staff, they need to change from a manager of things to a manager of people, and from a technical expert to a strategic thinker

VIII Leaders plan ahead

It is not enough to come to work to just do your job, and leave at the end of the day and move on. That is what employees do, that is their contract. Leaders think about "what happens next", "what if" and have the answers and a plan of action ready. They are constantly thinking ahead, writing down ideas for improvement, and working out ways where the day to day processes work smoothly to give them more time.

IX Leaders set goals for themselves

Leaders invest time and money if necessary in personal development. Think where you or your business wants to be in 3-5 years time. Write down those goals, and write down what needs to be done to achieve each one. The goals may be financial, personal or hobby related. Map out a plan for your life and if possible put timelines on each objective. Review the plan regularly to gauge results, and modify as required as circumstances change. Seek the support of those close to you who are affected, to gain their buy in, and keep them informed of how you are going against your goals.

How important is Recommendation?

Why Does an Employer Conduct a Background Check?

Employers check potential and current workers for several reasons. The things an employer wants to know about you can vary with the kinds of jobs you might seek. Here are a few of the reasons for employment screening.

Negligent hiring lawsuits are on the rise. If an employee's actions hurt someone, the employer may be liable. The threat of liability gives employers reason to be cautious in checking an applicant's past. A bad decision can wreck havoc on a company's budget and reputation as well as ruin the career of the hiring official. Employers no longer feel secure in relying on their instinct as a basis to hire.

False or inflated information supplied by job applicants is frequently in the news. Some estimates are that 30% to 40% of all job applications and resumes include some false or inflated facts. Such reports make employers wary of accepting anyone's word at face value.

The king of devils Bali was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. One day Bali approached to Lord Vishnu for safeguarding his kingdom. Lord Vishnu took this task and decided to leave his heavenly home, but Goddess Laxmi wanted his husband not to leave his home. She reached to the house of Bali as a camouflaged Brahmin woman and asked for shelter.

On Shravan Purnima day Laxmi Ji tied a sacred thread on the wrist of King Bali and revealed her purpose for being there. Touched by the concern of Laxmi Ji towards her family, King Bali requested Lord Vishnu to live with her.

Therefore the Rakhi festival is also called 'Baleva' that means the devotion of King Bali to Lord Vishnu.

A Mahabharata Tale
Before the battle of Mahabharata, Lord Krishna told Yudhisthir, elder Pandava brother, to perform rakhi ceremony which would act as a shield for him and his army. Draupadi, wife of the Pandavas, tied a thread on Lord Krishna’s wrist, seeking his blessings for her husbands.

King Porus and Alexandar's wife
Another rakhi tale comes from the battle between Alexander the Greek king, and Porus, the Hindu king. Wife of Alexander sent a sacred thread to Porus, asking him not to harm her husband in battle. In accordance with Hindu traditions, Porus gave full respect to rakhi. In the battlefield, when Porus was about to deliver a final blow on Alexander, he saw the rakhi on his hand and restrained himself from attacking Alexander personally.

THE NATIONAL FLAG OF INDIA is in tricolour "तिरंगा" of deep saffron (Kesari) at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom in equal propotions.

The Indian flag is a horizontal tricolour in equal proportion of deep saffron on the top, white in the middle and dark green at the bottom. The ratio of the width to the length of the flag is two is to three. In the centre of the white band, there is a wheel in navy blue to indicate the Dharma Chakra, the wheel of law in the Sarnath Lion Capital. This center symbol or the 'CHAKRA', is a Buddhist symbol dating back to 200th century BC.

Its diameter approximates the width of the white band and it has 24 spokes, which intends to show that there is life in movement and death in stagnation. The saffron stands for courage, sacrifice and the spirit of renunciation; the white, for purity and truth; the green for faith and fertility.

The design of the National Flag of India was adopted by India's constituent assembly on 22nd july, 1947. It's use and display are regulated by a code.

The flag symbolizes freedom। The late Prime Minister Pandit Nehru called it a flag not only of freedom for ourselves, but a symbol of freedom for all people.

Facts About National Anthem

The song Jana-gana-mana, composed originally in Bengali by Rabindranath Tagore, was adopted in its Hindi version by the Constituent Assembly as the National Anthem of India on 24 January 1950.

A formal rendition of the national anthem takes fifty two seconds.

The National Song of India

"'Vandē Mātaram" is the national song of India. The song was composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in a highly Sanskritized form of the Bengali language. The song first appeared in his book ''Anandamatha'', published in 1882 amid fears of a ban by British Raj, though the song itself was actually written six years prior in 1876.Though a major aspirant for being thenational anthem of India, Vande Mataram was eventually overtaken by Jana Gana Mana, which was ultimately chosen.

Sare Jahan Se Aacha

The poem Saare Jahan Se Achcha was composed by the poet Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal in 1904-1905 while India was under British administration. The poem is sung by Indians on occasions of national importance and in schools as part of morning prayer. After the Indian National Song Jana-Gana-Mana and the Indian National Song Vande Mataram, Sare Jahan Se Achcha enjoys the reputation as the most popular patriotic song in India. MY CHILDHOOD

I love writing.
I used to write a lot of stories in my childhood along with my brother. We speak Marwadi at home (Marwadi is one the regional languages in India, people belong to Rajasthan state speak Marwadi/Rajasthani). My brother and I used to convert the songs from Bollywood/Hindi, school poems into Marwadi and used to write them just for a fun. Papa used to buy for us few notebooks to be used in the school, but instead of utilizing for school, we used to fill-it up with stupid poems, stories etc. I used to love writing but not homework :) OOOW I'm going to be 2* + now and still feel so excited about my childhood. I think, I'm not the 1st person who is excited about childhood, but everybody likes to talk about it.
I still love writing but I hardly use pen in my hand only when I've to give presentation or have to explain to colleagues. This software life sucks, I tried to get rid of so many times but can't live w/o it is the ultimate truth, I've been doing computers since my junior college, it's about 12 yrs. now. Things have been changed so much. I still remember we used to have one lecture about computers once in 2 months in school (I'm talking about 1990's when we just heard the name computers). We used to be given calculator to do some homework and computer was lying just for show no was allowed to touch it :). I had feelings that computer must have hands, legs, and brains. (I used to watch T.V. serials in which they used to show Robos and animated computers).
I was too lazy (I'm still the same) to do any work at home so consistently used to think to steal the computer from school and take at home and get all the job done. But when I saw computer for the 1st time, I was traumatized.
HUH! No wonder my dreams were shattered and made me to learn computers :(. My father forced me so much to choose computers as my career, I hated computers since childhood ( and you know by now WHY?) Though I'm at good position, earning a lot but when I see my friends who are house-wives they are enjoying their lives at fullest, I need to go to office, talk to clients, fix up appointments, see the juniors, report to seniors, keep on speaking and sit infront of idiot box and code, find others bugs, solve other stupid mistakes etc-etc.
Aah! I was so excited the day I came to Bangalore to search for a job after my P.G. (in July, 2002). But market had slowdown and dreams were shattered again, I'm a gold medalist (in graduation) and scored high marks in P.G as well,but was of no use, at many places people threw my resumes in dust bin infront of me, didn't even give me a chance to prove. One day my dreams came true when Siemens gave me chance as a fresher, then there started my good luck and I went on hopping, worked in Microsoft after Siemens, then SAP Labs, went to Singapore worked for Yokogawa Engineering, came back got married, YEAH! got my dream boy while working in SAP Labs (not really but he is decent), and married to him last year. He/My hubby only insisted me to start writing again. I tell you, it's giving me immense pleasure to write after years and giving me the same satisfaction as in my childhood. Thanks! GAURAV
In childhood, the stories coming into mind were different, now only problem comes into my mind, I want to change the world a very common dream of all Indians, everyday I make up my mind to do something but disappears when I get no response, I'll surely make it one day just watch it.
I love horror T.V. serials/novels/books/stories/comics. We used to buy comics and used to give on rent for 25 paisa per day. Awesome! I've business in my blood since childhood, I still remember, my neighbor had a small daily-needs shop. That boy was spastic patient, everybody from the colony used to take advantage of that boy when his parents were not around, and why should I be behind, I think I was the person who took most of the advantages from that mentally retarded small boy, :), do you believe it or not, but I'm like that, don't call me selfish but I'm an OPPORTUNIST, I used to get the comics from that boy when his parents were not around, also used to play a lot with that boy, why, because I don't like losing, and I knew that if I play with that boy I'll always win. I still have the same thirst of winning the battle but I don't have that boy as my opponent. ( :( )
I feel, I've been changed a lot since childhood, I used to think I'll never change whatever may come, but it's not always applicable, and someday you learn being practical. I used to be artistic, stood first many times in Drawing, Painting, Rangoli, Mehandi (henna) many times whenever I participated. I had my own cloths designed and stitched. Not only mine but also for my sweet DOLL, I never got her married, all of my chidlhood friends used to get their doll married, used to have big parties at home and used to cook for baratis. I think, you would have got the reasons by now why didnt I get married my DOLL, very simple, I was too lazy to learn cooking, and never liked into Kitchen. My dreams were unknown. I used to make house models on the papers and hand it over to my father saying that this is my dream house, I own one house but it's not my dream house, since childhood I dreamt to have a house like in films they show. 200 rooms, lots of servants, no work, you will be served TEA in bed, I don't like bed tea and to be very frank I still get the tea served by my husband many times specially over weekends, though he doesnt drink tea, but he knows whenever I'm lazy to prepare he makes it for me, SO SWEET:) just like my mom.
I've been very short tempered and full of anger since childhood, I still have a bomb particle. Anger is a one word shorter of DAnger (recently found), but I'm helpless, I don't stand by lies, dishonesty, indiscipline. I've my own principles and still follow them.
I've been a prankster, ebullient. In my school I used to sit in between two guys, I used to talk too much and used blow others mind with stupid questions. I was given few titles in my school/college like "Titali (means butterfly)", "Jhaasi ki Raani ( used to take pangas with everybody) ", "Difficulty". I do remember about homework not being done in schools, always had excuses for homework, many times the same reason "I've done but forgot my homework notebook at home". Sometimes used to get chance go back home and get the notebook, but manytimes stood out of the classes as a punishment. :) But never mind started of some other excuses, like stomach ache, headache etc. I used to go to school by Auto Rikshaw but never liked it, and used bang behind other's Rikshaws. I was sent to Dance school forcefully by my MOM, never liked her she used to be behind for homework, food, dance school also hated more when she used to switch off the T.V. and used stop me going out for playing without doing homework. My brothers had different mind altogether, they were smarter than I, they used to get money for each homework done and also gifts. But I was never behind money and gifts, what I used to LOVE is freedom, freak out and mingle with neighbors, talk and talk, fight and beat others, trouble, play pranks, make fun and come back home only after mid-night (not possible). I used to fight at least once in a day. My mom was tired of resolving the issues. I was very close to my grand mom, she used to narrate many stories, my special request used to be for "BHOOT KI KAHANIYAN". I wanted to see BHOOT (Ghost) in my childhood, who can become my slave and do all the jobs for me, very imaginative but true, I still feel to get one magic power to win over anything.
